A wiccan third-degree initiation ritual consists of a sequence of several components.
The sequence of components is similar, but not identical,
between Gardnerian Wicca and Alexandrian Wicca.
That sequence of components, in Gardnerian Wicca, is as follows:

  • the five-fold kiss
  • rope-bound BDSM ass-whipping by postulant onto initiator
  • initiate bound to the altar in BDSM position
  • the initial proclamation
  • rope-bound BDSM ass-whipping by initiator onto postulate
  • rope-bound BDSM ass-whipping by postulant onto initiator, again
  • bedding placed in position
  • initiator's initial narration
  • the woman- either the initiator or postulant, lies down on the bedding, face-up, with her vagina at the center of the circle
  • initiator's narration continues, as the man kisses the woman's vagina several times, then kisses her breasts
  • the triple-annointing
  • initiator's narration continues
  • initiator's and postulant's nude bodies are embraced together, with penis penetrating vagina
  • the simultaneous narration
  • sexual intercourse

To people who are not familiar with Gardnerian or Alexandrian Wicca,
the BDSM steps must seem like a parody that was added by a vandal, but it isn't.
Gerald Gardner enjoyed BDSM, and incorporated it into all three of the initiation rituals that he wrote.
Gerald Gardner's desire to attract BDSM partners was a large part of his motivation in creating and promoting Gardnerian Wicca.

Although, in the first-degree and second-degree initiation rituals of Alexandrian Wicca,
the ritual officer title "hierophant" is used, that title is not used in the Alexandrian third-degree ritual.
Thus, the Alexandrian version of this ritual is more similar to the Gardnerian version in that particular respect.

In Alexandrian Wicca, all of the Gardnerian steps are preceded by the cakes-and-wine sub-ritual.
That component was taken from the oldest version of Gardnerian Wicca,
before Gardnerian Wicca underwent revisions.

In Alexandrian Wicca, there is a step in which the man kisses the woman's knees while caressing her thighs.
That is done both before, and after, the cakes-and-wine sub-ritual.
That component was taken from the beginning and ending of the Gardnerian version of the cakes-and-wine sub-ritual,
whereas the Alexandrian version of the cakes-and-wine sub-ritual lacks that component.
Thus, adding those steps, before and after the Alexandrian cakes-and-wine sub-ritual,
makes that sub-ritual more similar to the Gardnerian version.

In Alexandrian Wicca, the initial proclamation is made between the second and third ass-whipping steps,
rather than between the first and second.

In Alexandrian Wicca, the five-fold kiss is given after the three ass-whipping steps, rather than beforehand.

In Alexandrian Wicca, the initiator's long poetic narration is not the version that Doreen Valiente wrote,
but is Gerald Gardner's original, pre-Valiente text.

In Alexandrian Wicca, the coven members depart the area at a specific time during the kissing-during-narration step,
so that the initiator and postulate can have sex without other people watching them.
That component was taken from the oldest version of Gardnerian Wicca,
before Gardnerian Wicca underwent revisions.

In Alexandrian Wicca, there is a concluding proclamation at the end, after the sexual intercourse.
That component was taken from an old version of Gardnerian Wicca,
before Gardnerian Wicca underwent the Valiente revisions,
though in the Alexandrian version, it is worded differently.

Note that the biggest changes in the Alexandrian version of the ritual are reversions to an earlier Gardnerian form.
